🎓 Back to Business — The Business of Sound Returns

ree

Sometimes, life tests your foundation right after you finish building it.

In the same week that I earned my Master’s Degree in Entertainment Business, I lost both my job and my housing. What should have been a moment of celebration quickly became one of survival. It was a hard reset, emotionally, mentally, and spiritually.

But that season taught me something priceless: your degree doesn’t just represent education; it represents endurance. It reminded me that even when everything around you falls apart, the vision still stands.

So now that the dust has settled, I’m returning to what drives me; helping producers and engineers understand the real business behind the sound.

When I launched “The Business of Sound” series, my mission was to bridge the gap between creativity and ownership-to help the people shaping the sound of modern music build structure, protect their work, and claim their value.

We’ve explored:

🎛️ Protecting credits and intellectual property

💰 Understanding royalties, publishing, and backend income

📑 Negotiating fair deals and recognizing your leverage

🎧 Developing a true business mindset as a creative

Now, it’s time for the next phase. The series returns with a new focus, sharper, deeper, and grounded in lived experience.

The next installment, “The Producer’s Real Leverage: Turning Skills Into Equity,” dives into how producers can transform their craft into lasting value; not just getting paid for their work, but owning a piece of what they help create.

To everyone who’s rebuilding after loss, still chasing purpose through pressure, I see you. This next chapter is for you.
